The Good Old Things

I miss the good old days when toys were made of wood or heavy vinyl and playing a game with friends meant playing jump-rope or hide-and-go-seek. Today, toys are made of cheap plastic and playing a game with friends means playing Wii or Playstation. Imagination, creativity and children playing in the streets seem to be disappearing.

Thankfully, alot of people are taking interest in the "good old" things and they are popping up in stores again. Whether it be vintage decorations, folkart or high quality toys - I'm gladly scooping them up! To contribute to the craze, (at least in my mind) I've been creating fun items like Jack-in-the-boxes, Hot Air Balloons and other original art. I love working with paper and I'm always thinking of new things to do with it.

Although some of my creations can be considered as toys, they are made for display and decorative enjoyment. The jack in the boxes are functional. There is no crank to turn but they have a spring and jump up upon opening with bells for a little jingle.
